SWOT ANALYSIS
Acronym of S-Strength, W-Weakness, O-Opportunity and T-Threat.
Among which S and W, are internal factors, over which we can have control.
It’s one of the most renowned tools to analyze one’s own capabilities and limits. It also emphasize to understand the threats one would likely face. It helped me to learn my positive and negative factors and henceforth the best consistent performance can be achieved.
During the course, i was able to list down my strength and weakness. This simple work really helped to know myself and the possible ways i can work up the ladder.

JOHARI WINDOW
The Johari window model helped me to understand about my motivation, feelings, awareness and intentions. I was able to know myself and my relationship with others from four different perspectives/areas as Open, blind, hidden and unknown. The concept was to expand my open area by interacting with my colleagues and getting a feedback from them. It boosted my sociability and confidence as i was able to look myself from various shoes.

ASSERTIVENESS
The session about “Being Assertive” was amusing and perky. I was a submissive and peachy guy. During the course we were asked to play the ideal situation in our mind of how to be and what will happen if I was Assertive. I felt good as i was able to put my idea first with self-assurance among the best of others. The Ladder concept was really wonderful, it describes how to resolve any out of hand situation into a non-complex ease.

SELF ESTEEM
During the session we were asked to write the thoughts supporting my positive self-esteem and confidence. By being aware of my strengths and traits, it was up to me to change and hone my self-esteem. The course made me to reinforce a particular thought or ideology by constantly thinking and practicing it.

GROUP DISCUSSION
As the course went further with full importance given to know thyself, we guys got accustomed to the interactions and class activities. We became more comfortable and very soon activities like presentations and group discussions were introduced. I participated in a GD. The constructive feedback sessions after that definitely helped me understand more about areas I needed to improve in.

GUEST LECTURE
Midst of all this action, there was this guest lecture by Colonel Jayakumar. He talked about the importance of ethics and self-awareness in our professional life, which were very primary but generally over looked, leading to many problems in one’s career. The session was interactive and resourceful.

TRANSACTIONAL ANALYSIS
We were given a set of questionnaire and were asked to give score to each question. The questions had a set of psychological, behavior, and emotional situations. We then plotted an egogram, based on the score obtained from the self-assessment. The egogram was based on Parental, Adult, and Child ego states. I deduced my egogram and was able to identify those ego states i have to adopt and work on. Now I have an intention to alter my ego state by understanding and knowing the required ego state for general cases.

EMAIL ETIQUETTES
Our batch mate Shri. Anamika was interested in improving her stage fear, so she was asked to face the fear by presenting a presentation on email etiquettes.

BUDDY GROUP
Since soft skills are more related to a particular person’s attitude, background and knowledge, it becomes more important to improve our self-awareness and passion. In order to face and understand our lacking we were divided into three groups. I found myself weak in confidence. In the buddy group we wrote down those situations when we felt mentally down. It really helped in identifying the root cause, once we started to chunk it down with the group. Then we discussed what might have been an ideal case and now i feel confident to face that particular situation.

CTS GUEST LECTURE.
As a final year student I was expected to have a general idea about the interview procedure, the expectations of an interviewer etc. So it was really constructive when he gave a brief extra mural lecture about the various aspects of an interview and how to crack it. His experience really gave an insight of the methodology adopted during an interview.

During the course of the workshop,
·         We were repeatedly asked to list down our weakness and areas to improve. When doing this, i took time to assess myself, which wouldn’t have happened without this workshop.
·         Once we have listed our requirements, we had some elaborate group discussions about ways to sort it, which gave a divergent solution.
·         I remember meeting new faces in every session of the workshop. It really made an impact on my socializing attitude. A small talk with them improved my knowledge database and social community.
·         The constructive response from my colleague’s after the group discussion helped me to ponder upon my mistakes that i have done.
·         Several inspiring videos and music clips added an interest to the subject.

When i got this course i was not aware of the outcome it will bring upon me. I would completely agree the course content and session will have a complementary impact on my placements.
